Sam Wilson aka Falcon (Anthony Mackie) is introduced Captain America: The Winter Soldier while working at the VA Medical Center in Washington, DC as a counselor for veterans suffering from PTSD, himself a veteran of the Air Force – he retired shortly after the wingman to kill Riley in action. After a chance to run in at the National Mall, Sam makes an instant connection with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), aka Captain America, and the two tie over their shared arms trauma. They work for the first time when Steve is in frame for the death of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) with Hydra, who has been inside SHIELD since its inception. Sam offers to help Steve take down Hydra, revealing his secret weapon: a high-tech shield suit that allows him to fly. Sam joins Steve and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), aka Black Widow, in a fight against Hydra where they run into the ultimate killer of Fury: The Winter Soldier, later unrecorded as a brain – washed murderer and Steve ‘s best friend, Bucky Barnes. Wearing a Falcon suit, Sam helps Cap, Nat, and Fury (who missed his death) bring down Hydra and SHIELD, but Bucky escapes into the beauty.

In the years to come, Sam will help Steve find Bucky, and join the Avengers. In Captain America: Civil War, when the Secretary of State comes to the Avengers with the Sokovia Accords – the MCU version of the Superhero Registration Act – Sam joins Cap in going wrong and refusing to sign. After a short tussle at Leipzig Airport, Sam is arrested and thrown in the Raft, only to be broken up by Steve shortly afterwards. Sam, Natasha, and Steve are thought to have been where they traveled the world as three religious vigilantes to the Avengers: Infinity War, when Thanos invaded Earth, and the three were called back to action. They traveled to Wakanda to help defend the Mind Stone in Vision’s head from Thanos’ forces, but they couldn’t stop Thanos from getting the stone back, and Sam was taken extinct along with half the life of the universe. In Avengers: Endgame, the remaining Avengers manage to exterminate all those lost five years earlier, and Sam joins in the final battle against Thanos’ army. When the dust settles, Sam, Steve, and Bucky are all left standing. After using the Stones to travel back in time to find life with his first love Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), Steve returns to the present day as an old man, giving Sam his shield .
