‘We will not let Man City run away with it’ – Solskjaer promises Man Utd will not give up easily in title tussle

The Red Devils are a long way from league leaders Pep Guardiola but their manager still refuses to throw in the towel

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United will not allow Manchester City to run away with the Premier League title, despite a rocky run in a form that has seen their credentials shrink.

The Red Devils slipped to a terrible 1-1 draw with West Brom, who were in danger of relegation on Sunday, leaving them far away from league leaders Pep Guardiola.

But their manager refuses to throw in the towel and still believes United can match their beat-for-blow neighbors at the top flight.

What did Solskjaer say?

“Let’s build momentum and win games,” he said BBC Sport. “[City] in good shape. Us and Leicester have to put up a fight. “

Speaking later to Sky Sports News, Solskjaer further explained his side ‘s struggles against his Mancunian rivals, saying: “I said it should not be talked about. [in the title race].

“[It’s] praise to the boys we got into the situation we are in now. “We won’t let them run away with it – we’ll play them soon. We don’t give it up early – we don’t.”

The bigger picture

Solskjaer’s comments represent something of a more interesting spin on his previous statements, having previously said that United should not be considered as title contenders.

With a seven-point lead and a game in hand, City still have strong control over their own destiny though; even if they went against United, the Red Devils would still have hope that they would return the different fortunes the couple currently have.

United travel to the Etihad Stadium on March 6, looking to secure the first win of the season against their rivals, after pulling out of the Premier League in December before losing grabbed an energetic Carabao Cup last month.
