LONDON, Dec 31 (Reuters) – British doctors have said the government’s decision to delay the increase in coronavirus vaccination will be given to vulnerable patients who have already received the first dose of concern and spouse, their trade union said Thursday.

The government said on Wednesday it wanted to give as many people as possible the first dose before starting to provide boosters at 12 weeks, in a bid to provide more protection to more people more quickly .

But Dr Richard Vautrey, chairman of the British Medical Association (BMA) committee for local GPs, said it was “completely unfair to the tens of thousands of most at-risk patients to try the jobs. reorganize them ”.

For the newly approved vaccine developed by Oxford University and manufactured by AstraZeneca in Britain next week, the plan is consistent with a decision that a 12-week wait increased protection against the virus.

However, in relation to the Pfizer / BioNTech image already provided, the manufacturer stated that the bullet had not been evaluated on different dosing schedules from the recommended 21 days.

The BMA said scores of doctors had told it the new approach would upset vulnerable patients and create supply problems for health care workers.

“The BMA believes that these are patients who have already been promised … that they will receive a second dose of Pfizer vaccine next week; they have given permission to get it and, rightly, they expect to have it, ”said the BMA.

The Pfizer vaccine was given to more than 944,000 by Dec. 27, the health ministry said Thursday.

The BMA said it would support any doctors who decided to respect existing promotion positions, and urged the government to provide “scientific justification” for the new approach.

In a joint statement, the chief medical officers from across the United Kingdom said they recognize that the request for rescheduling of meetings will be difficult and will upset patients who were looking forward to full to be vaccinated.

However, “in terms of protecting priority groups, a model where we get the vaccine twice the number of people in the next 2-3 months is much better in terms of public health than one where We vaccinated half the number but with just a little more protection, ”they said.
