ANKARA (Reuters) – The first shipment of COVID-19 Sinovac vaccine from China to Turkey was postponed “1-2 days” due to a case of coronavirus in Beijing customs, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said Sunday.

Turkey has agreed to buy 50 million doses of CoronaVac Sinovac and expected the first delivery of 3 million doses on Monday. It will also receive 4.5 million doses of the vaccine developed by BioNTech and Pifzer, with the option to receive an additional 30 million doses later.

“As a result of the COVID-19 alarm in Beijing and the COVID-19 case at Beijing customs, a shift at customs has been temporarily postponed. As a result, the arrival of our vaccines, which should be discontinued after a routine operation, will be delayed by 1-2 days, ”Koca said on Twitter.
