This weekend’s stunning ‘Moon Moon’ will take on viewers around the world

Did you see the full “Snow Moon” rise? In the last third moon of winter – and one of the highest in 2021 – moons and photographers around the world were out in effect, but this was a full moon special in Asia.

Officially at 08:17 Universal Time on Saturday, February 27, 2021 while in Leo’s constellation, the brightness of our satellite prompted the Lantern Festival in Asia to celebrate the New Year (known as also “Fèis an Earraich”) to begin 15 days in advance.

The first day of the Lunar New Year (Year of the Stag) was on Friday, February 12, 2021, but the Lantern Festival – also known as “Yuanxiao” and “Shangyuan” – was a time for candles and for eating dumplings rus.

However, the Full Moon is a global event – and the monthly rise in the eastern skies at dusk is a marvel to be seen throughout human history.

There is a full moon when the Earth is between the sun and the moon. During this period of the lunar orbit on Earth, the Moon appears fully illuminated as seen from Earth. A full moon occurs once in every orbit of the Earth – “th-moon” (month).

The full moon of February is called the “Snow Moon” in North America, and in Europe it is called the “Storm Moon”.

The names that are widely used for full Moons go back mostly to those that were used – or are said to have been used (there is no written record) – by tribes Native American. That was the name “Snow Moon” in February, although there were many Native American tribes.

according to Moongiant, although “Snow Moon” was a popular name for the full moon of February throughout North America, the Cherokee tribe called it the “Moon of the Bones” and the Kalapuya tribe called it a “Moon Out of Food, ”as winter supplies have dwindled to the bones.

However, for the Hopi tribe it was known as the “Moon of Cleansing and Renewal” as it was the first full Moon of the lunar calendar year. In Europe the Celts called it an “Ice Moon”.

The next full moon is the first spring of 2021 – the “Worm Moon” – which rises on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

Wishing you clear skies and wide eyes.
