Solskjaer believes Lingard has Manchester United’s future despite West Ham’s move

The Old Trafford boss wants the midfielder to return “revival” when he ends his loan deal with the Hammers.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Jesse Lingard has a long-term future at Manchester United despite being close to joining West Ham on loan.

The attacking midfielder is expected to be named Hammers player for the rest of the season, with both clubs agreeing to the contract on Thursday night.

David Moyes ‘side are understood to pay a loan fee of £ 1.5 million and cover Lingard’ s salary for the rest of the campaign as he looks to push ahead and get more minutes under his belt.

Lingard has started just twice for Solskjaer this season and, after failing to make his way to regular controversy, it was agreed he could leave on loan.

“We want Jesse to be back here revived and shown at West Ham how good he is as a player,” Solskjaer said of Lingard’s upcoming loan move. “He’s just been unlucky with a couple of issues, times he has had to stay away from us with Covid, loneliness and intimacy.

“The rest of the team did well. We weren’t much injured and he’s not on his way into the team. I just want him to go there and enjoy it, show how good a player is and come back and show that he is a Man Utd player through and through. ”

Lingard looks set to not be the only player to go out on loan before the window closes on Monday. Facundo Pellistri is expected to make it to Spain until the end of the season, while Marcos Rojo is ready to sign for Boca Juniors.

“Marcos is likely to return to Argentina – there is not much paperwork to do,” Solskjaer explained. “[As for] Sergio [Romero], I heard nothing there but that he will be with us for the rest of his contract. ”

United travel to Arsenal on Saturday looking to kick back from the disappointing loss against Sheffield United on Wednesday and Solskjaer is confident he has the right mindset at his side to get back into winning streaks.

“You never want to lose a game to learn from it, you want to learn from the games you win. We’ve been terrible, we’ve been consistent, but that’s the kind of season, ”said Solskjaer. “We didn’t expect to go without a loss from November 1, of course we didn’t, but we wanted and want to start a new run and we’ve always kicked back from the previous issue.

“This season we did extremely well after all the victories. There was only one where we lost to Arsenal and Basaksehir just after that, but other than that we have always kicked back with good results and good performance. I hope all the answers go well and we hope the result comes because you can’t control the outcome. ”
