Priyanka Chopra tells Oprah Winfrey why she didn’t take Nick Jonas seriously: ‘I was 35 and he was in his twenties’

Priyanka Chopra Jonas opened up about writing her memoir, Unfinished, at the age of 38 in a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey for her talk show Discover + Super Soul. Already a leading New York Times bestseller, Priyanka revealed that she had promised to write the book in 2018, and she believes she is getting ideas for the book while on long trips. and the downtime caused by the lock-out by coronavirus. Trusting in the confidence she feels in her late 30s, Priyanka says she’s glad she passed the uncertainty of her 20s and talks about it, how she dealing with her life in the book.

Priyanka also talked about her relationship with her husband, singer-songwriter Nick Jonas, and how she may have been ‘judging the book by its cover’ when they came into contact a few years ago. She also said that Nick is so proud of her achievements that he was supportive of writing her book.

Speaking about being more confident in herself now than ever before, Priyanka said, “I had promised to write the book in 2018. Between those two flights and the short time it would take me in hotel rooms where I lived, I could. just don’t get time to write. But I had this time because of COVID, that helped me a lot of deep research, and honestly I also feel like I, as a woman, am in a little safer place where I was feel like I’m leaving the insecurities of the twenties, and don’t worry about the things that used to scare me. I don’t have much more confidence in myself, than I bring to the table professionally, personally, I think that helped me a lot in dealing with my life. And, I always wanted to write a book, and I thought writing about my life (chuckles) was the easiest way to do it, but it wasn’t. ”

Oprah then joined Priyanka writing about her mother, Madhu Chopra, appearing ‘Nick Jonas, in‘ Unfinished ’. Oprah asks Priyanka, “I read where you said that your mother was, you think, dreaming with or had spiritual strength in bringing her into your life because you has been in a bad relationship, and your mum said, ‘I hope one day you just meet someone who wipes you from your feet, and then Nick Jonas comes and you’ sweep ‘off your feet . ”

“I was blown away,” she said, “He is self-assured, sensible, so happy about my achievements and my dreams. Maybe I was judging the book by its cover, I didn’t really take it for granted when Nick was texting me, you know, I was 35, I was like I wanted to get married, i want to have kids, and it is, you know in his 20s, and i don’t know if that was something he would want, as i did that for myself for a while, until i out with him and nothing surprised me more than him, he is such a self-assured, so sensible, so happy man about what I have achieved, my dream, the real partnership he offers me in his -everything we do together. ”

PC then recounts how her marriage is reminiscent of her parents ’marriage which was largely a partnership between two identities. She says, “I really believe my mother showed it because it was her marriage, she had a partnership marriage, they worked together, they lived together, raised they are at home together, they built their lives together in equal partnership and I saw that while growing up. and, I’m amazed that I found out exactly what I’ve grown up with, with Nick, I just deleted it, let it happen. ”
