Man City’s Pep Guardiola has celebrated West Brom boss Sam Allardyce, a former Premier League player
‘Sam Allardyce is a great expert at taking those teams – when everyone thinks he’ s over – and getting results, ‘Guardiola said.
‘If it happens once or twice it’s lucky but not in this case as it did I don’t know how many times.
‘We haven’t had much time but training has been good, we are taking the bus to West Brom to try and make a good game. They have had good results. Taking over a team during the season is not easy.
‘We have to do better than last month’s draw. We eventually had chances to win, but the way we played was not good. We have to play better than we did at home to win the game. ‘

When asked to deal with sacking Frank Lampard with Chelsea, the Catalan said: ‘You have to win.
‘People talk about projects, they’re not there. You have to win or you get a bag. Hope to see Frank soon, take him to a restaurant to see them again when the lock is over.

Guardiola says Frank Lampard is sinking if there is evidence that there is no place for ‘projects’ in the league
It depends on results, not philosophy or projects. Get results or replace them.
‘The results give you incredible confidence, you believe the results make you play well or the other way around. Both are connected but for us it is the end of January.
‘The United leader, they’re at the top right now. We all have games together to see. We are not above and the distance between the others is so close. ‘
