Jeremy Lin leaves G League Ignite team after one game to pursue other opportunities

Jeremy Lin’s “Era” with the G League Ignite team is over.

Head coach Brian Shaw said Thursday that Lin had left the team to pursue other opportunities, including with other G League clubs and abroad.

“Jeremy is no longer with us,” Shaw said when asked about Lin’s status. “He decided he wanted to try some other options. He played those couple minutes last game [Tuesday] and then he decided he was going somewhere else. ”

As first reported Monday by Forbes SportsMoney, Lin joined the Ignite team that also includes Jonathan Kuminga and Jalen Green ‘s projected lottery selection for a short test of the waters.

Lin, 32, played in the G League during the 2010-11 season for the Reno Bighorns before signing for Golden State. He went on to play for several NBA teams, including the Knicks, where he starred during the “Linsanity” era, the Rockets, Lakers, Hornets, Nets, Hawks and Raptors. He won an NBA title with the Raptors in 2019 before spending last season with the Beijing Ducks in China, averaging 22.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists while leading the Ducks to their first postseason since 2016.

Now it has moved again.

“He wasn’t going to be enough for what he had to do with the pressure on our young lads so I think he wanted to go a little where he could get the ball. hands and really get the minutes and show wht he can do in his quest to get back into the NBA, ”Shaw said.

Lin is still hoping to get back into the NBA.

“For me, I still work hard every day, because I know one day there will be a chance to win, no matter in the NBA, CBA, any other league,” he told Chinese fans on Douyin in live streams Saturday. .
