Facebook Meets Apple in Clash of the Tech Titans – ‘We Need to Introduce Pain’

Facebook Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been complaining for years that Apple Inc. has too much. and its director, Tim Cook, on the social media giant industry. In 2018, his anger boiled down.

Facebook has been embroiled in controversy over its data collection practices. Mr Cook gathered in a national television interview, saying his own company would never have made such a discovery. Mr Zuckerberg recalled that Mr Cook’s comments were “extremely glib” and “not at all in fact.”

Privately, Mr. Zuckerberg was even tougher. “We have to bring in pain,” he told his team, for handling the company so badly, according to people familiar with the exchange.

This was not the first time – or the last time – that Mr Cook’s views and actions left Mr Zuckerberg wrong and, at times, plotting to get back at Apple. Complaints began to rise at the end of last month in a rare public tit-for-tat between the two technical giants who downplayed the simmering animation between their leaders, who exchanged jabs about privacy, app search engines and, ultimately, their duel views about the future of the internet.

Apple has positioned itself as a defender of digital privacy, holding up a good deal more, while often leveling criticism at Facebook’s business model – not to mention the company. That all boils down to Facebook, which sees Apple as surpassing it in a way that threatens Facebook ‘s existence, and that it is hypocritical, to admit doing extensive business in China where privacy is scarce. An attempt in 2017 to address tensions through a face-to-face meeting between the two Chiefs led to a tense stance.
