As stated, at the end of the discussions, the Constitution Committee approved the abolition of the sweeping obligation to isolate in hotels. Committee members agreed that “returnees from abroad will be able to maintain the home insulation subject to inspection and a commitment for further inspection on the ninth day of insulation.” It was further approved to extend the emergency due to the corona for another 60 days.

According to the decision, returnees from any country will be able to maintain the insulation outside the hotels, under the following conditions: Corona inspection upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport; And a commitment to arrive at the place of isolation and for the second inspection on the ninth day not by public transport.
The discussion in the committee included a heated debate between MK Eli Avidar and Dr. Elrai-Price. The latter reviewed before the committee members the data that she says justify the extension of the state of emergency. “Currently we have vaccinated 30% of the population at risk in the first dose, and we will not reach within 60 days to complete the second dose for the entire population at risk,” she said. “Also, a third of Israel’s population cannot be vaccinated because they are children and there will be people who will not want to be vaccinated, so for the next 60 days they are still in a state of emergency in a global pandemic.
