“Zero Plastic”: The dramatic change in Coca-Cola bottles

The beverage giant Coca-Cola is soon expected to explore the possibility of using paper bottles, as part of its commitment to producing “zero plastic” as defined by 2030. 100% recyclable plastic bottles.

After more than seven years of development, the prototype, which is made from a special paper developed by the Danish paper bottle company Paboco, is expected to begin the first trial of its use in Hungary later this year. The experiment will include 2,000 bottles of Coca-Cola’s fruit drink, Edz.

The company also noted that although the prototype of the bottle currently includes a plastic stopper, the ultimate goal is to develop a bottle that is made entirely of plastic, and will be recyclable in the same way as paper. Also, in parallel with its work with Coca-Cola, the Danish company is also collaborating with vodka maker Absolut, which has announced that it will examine the possibility of transferring its carbonated raspberry drink to Paboco paper bottles. Absolut plans to market about 2,000 paper bottles in the UK and Sweden.
