For many weeks Monica Green, a resident of the Australian city of Rockhampton, suspected that something strange was going on under her nose. “Objects started moving from where I left them last time, and no one believed me that was what I discovered. Sometimes even I did not believe myself, and thought I was hallucinating. So many things that happened inside the house, happened in a way that makes no sense.”
Green said these words after last Monday she decided to involve the city police in her concerns. “She told us she was back from the doctor’s visit and as she entered the house she found the air conditioner on. She told us she remembered she turned it off before she left. She also told us the back door was wide open and on the kitchen counter was a plate with unfinished food.”
The police opened a search of the house and its surroundings, and then the frightening truth was revealed: “We found out that a stranger broke into her house two weeks ago, and simply decided to stay and live in her attic,” the police told the media.
In an interview with Courier Mail News, Green said she felt offended. “I’m glad the truth has finally come out. It feels to me like I’d invaded my personal space and I’m overwhelmed, terrified and scared. I have so many questions running through my head right now: What did he do in my house when I was not here? Did he try to hurt me or my children? “Even when I changed the lock on the house, he managed to get the key and continue living in my house as if for nothing. Since the incident I have been shaking from every little movement, making sure several times a day that the door is locked and that no one is in the house except us.”
The burglar was taken for questioning until the end of the legal proceedings against him.
