Nokia smartphone fans no longer need to get the fix at third-party vendors. HMD Global now offers direct sales from Nokia’s own website here in the US. That means you can pick up phones like the Nokia 8.3 5G or Nokia 7.2 right from Nokia / HMD Global, and shipping for some items is even guaranteed before Christmas if you place an order before the 17th.
This new store in the U.S. offers a mix of both direct sales and links to other store fronts. While you can pick up a phone like the Nokia 8.3 5G or Nokia 3.4 directly from Nokia, most other phones like the Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 4.2 just stick out with other vendors for offers purchase.
This move to offer direct sales here in the US (at least, for some models) is encouraging. Usually, direct sales don’t work very well in our market, as most buyers buy their phones from carriers. It brings a lot of brand recognition to end-to-end success with direct sales, but Nokia seems to be among the most recognizable mobile brands, as they have long been in our memory since even the time before smartphones. While I would shake a little at another smaller Android company making the same move, Nokia / HMD Global may be able to pull it off.
