Shiomi has announced a new charging technology that will allow devices to charge fully wirelessly, without the use of cables and without charging stations, where the charging will be done by sending signals accurately to supporting devices and will allow them to be charged from the air with a maximum power of up to 5 watts.

The technology uses a fairly large charging station as can be seen from the photos and video that the company shares, in which it focuses our attention on remote charging of phones, although with a maximum charging power of 5 watts, it is possible that at least in the first phase the new charging capabilities are for home products in living rooms and rooms. At home statically, and not necessarily for phones that require frequent use.

The charging point of the charging technology, according to the company, uses 144 antennas to generate signals that will be transmitted directly to supporting devices, while Shiomi states that the waves could find their way directly to the device by combining an input antenna consisting of 14 separate antennas, which convert the millimeter waves ( millimeter wave) sent from the charger, to the energy that will be able to charge the device.

Remote charging Shiomi

Shiomi does not reveal all the details about the new technology, and at this point we do not know how many devices can be charged using the new wireless charger, how far the signals can reach from the charger to the end devices or at what frequency the millimeter waves will travel, when there is significant safety. From a distance, which does not receive any reference from the company.

The technology will not be launched by Shiomi this year, When the company representative noted Twitter tweet Because at this stage it is only technological blood, and that the Mi Air Charge will not be launched during 2021.

Shiomi is not alone

This is not the first time we have heard of remote charging technologies without the need for wires or a discount on charging stations, when back in 2014 we reported technology that allows remote charging of up to 40 devices simultaneously from a distance of up to 5 meters.

Apparently under the influence of Shiomi’s exposure to the Mi Air Charge technology, Motorola also took the opportunity and unveiled through the Chinese social network Weibo a remote charging technology called Motorola One Hyper, which is capable of charging devices from a distance of up to 100 cm at present, without having to place them On any loading surface.

Similar to Shiomi’s technology, Motorola also points out that the new charging technology will make it possible to charge several devices simultaneously, but the company does not reveal how the technology works beyond that.
