WWE NXT: Edge faces Finn Balor and Pete Dunne

February 4 (UPI) – Edge, a Royal Rumble winner, appeared on WWE NXT, where he contacted NXT Champion Finn Balor and his rival Pete Dunne.

Edge came to the scene after Dunne called out Balor and challenged him for the NXT Championship. Balor took up the challenge with the game that was set to take place on February 14 at the NXT TakeOver pay-per-view event: Vengeance Day.

Edge can challenge the world champion inside WWE at WrestleMania 37 because he recently won the Royal Rumble Men’s game. Edge gave props to the NXT brand and said it helped him find his interest in returning to professional wrestling after being nine years old.

Edge also warned that he never held the NXT Championship and said the title was interesting to him.

“If I haven’t made my choice with TakeOver who knows, this fight might make me make my choice,” Edge told Balor and Dunne.

Karrion Kross was talked to Edge, when he was leaving NXT.

Kross said Edge must live up to his decision for the rest of his life when deciding which tournament to challenge him at WrestleMania 37.

Kross promised to bring back the NXT Championship, a title he had to relinquish in August due to a split shoulder. Edge responded that Kross’s threats were encouraging and he wasn’t sure if Kross would really want Edge to move to NXT.

Adam Cole and Roderick Strong of The Undisputed Era went against the two not-so-like Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher as part of the classic Dusty Rhodes Men Tag Team competition, in the main event.

Thatcher and Ciampa had previously gone to war against each other inside the ruthless Fight Pit in January. Thatcher had won the bout.

Ciampa and Thatcher were still able to work well together. Thatcher rescued Ciampa from Cole’s Last Shot and started showering with Cole and Strong outside the ring.

Ciampa was able to get past and pull strong with Willow Bell as Strong returned into the ring to win the game and advance to the tournament.

Other times from WWE NXT included Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez beating Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter to advance to the women ‘s Dusty Rhodes Tag Tag classic competition; Austin ‘s theory of Leon Ruff; Legado del Fantasma defeats Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado; Toni Storm defeats Jessi Kamea by being disqualified due to intervention from Mercedes Martinez and NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai; and Santos Escobar successfully defends his title against Curt Stallion.

Secretly Kross’s partner, Scarlett, had watched an Escobar match. Kross reached the scene afterwards and got a tour from Escobar partners Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza before looking down the Cruiserweight Championship.
