February 18 (UPI) – Adam Cole again attacked the NXT Championship, Finn Balor, and betrayed Kyle O’Reilly, an Undisputed Era team player, on WWE NXT.
Cole first attacked Balor and O’Reilly on Sunday after Balor defended his title against Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: Day Vengeance. O’Reilly began the show Wednesday asking for answers from Cole.
Roderick Strong of the Undisputed Era came out in his place and tried to play a peace player unnecessarily. Balor also appeared and said O’Reilly was to blame.
Dunne and his friends, NXT Tag Team Tournaments Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, took advantage of the argument and attacked the three men. General manager William Regal then announced that Balor, O’Reilly and Strong would face Dunne, Lorcan and Burch in a Six-Man Tag Team game for the main event.
In the highly competitive shop Balor and Dunne were getting all sorts of recycling as they fought against each other in the ring. The match began to fall apart when the referee was taken off.
Cole stopped Balor from performing the Coup de Grace from the high rope and took O’Reilly out with a brutal Suplex on the steel steps next to him. Balor, back inside the ring, unwittingly attacked Strong who was trying to help and suffering from Bitter End Dunne, defeating Dunne and his team.
Cole and Superkicked Balor returned when he got past the game. Cole then held up the NXT Championship.
Also on WWE NXT, Raquel González and Dakota Kai celebrated the first ever competition for the Women ‘s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team alongside the new MSK team, which won the men’ s version.
MSK will get a title title against Lorcan and Burch while González and Kai will be able to challenge Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler of Raw for the Women ‘s Tag Team Tournaments.
Jax and Baszler in particular visited NXT to go against González and Kai, which resulted in a war of words. MSK and nominator Beth Phoenix enjoyed the drama from long ago and ate popcorn together.
González and Kai will face Jax and Baszler on March 3rd.
Other WWE NXT episodes included Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon beating Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell from The Way; Austin Theory returns to the Trail after being kidnapped by Dexter Lumis; Leon Ruff defeats Scott’s Isaiah ‘Swerve’ before Scott later attacks him; Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter defeat Aliyah and Jessi Kamea; Xia Li places a secret symbol on Catanzaro’s hand; Kushida defeats Tyler Rust because manager Malcolm Bivens calls for forfeit; Zoey Stark making her debut and beating Valentina Fox; and Cameron Grimes continues to celebrate the money he made from GameStop stock.
