Worst Christmas lunches were served by returning Australians back in a hotel quarantine

While most Australians enjoy roast chicken and barbecue for Christmas lunch, those in a hotel quarantine have gotten a rather gloomy fare.

There is no Christmas refund for hundreds of Australians who have been forced into 14-day loneliness at a cost of $ 3,000 per head while celebrating on their own.

Guest-friendly five-star hotels are used to staying in them, but many travelers don’t seem to get value for money when it comes to food.

Many hotels made a special effort to record the worst Christmas a little brighter with delicious Christmas food … but some failed miserably.

One man posted a picture of his roast at the Four Points in Melbourne, in a styrofoam dish made of ham with gravy, roasted carrots, potato wedges and a piece of bread.

Another was given a pen with a frugal juice of bolognese salt that largely covered the Greek pasta and salad at the Stamford Plaza Hotel in Adelaide

People who were disappointed with their hotel food posted pictures of them in quarantine groups on Facebook to break their problems.

One guest posted a picture of his roast lunch served in a styrofoam dish made up of ham with gravy, roasted carrots, potato wedges and a piece of bread.

‘Christmas Lunch,’ he wrote in the post, followed by a sad face and the announcement that the Four Points hotel in Melbourne had ruined Christmas for everyone.

One person shared a picture of a biscuit with icing and a raw carrot on a plate along with a glass of wine – a dish that looked like it would have been left out for Santa Claus and reindeer rather than for lunch.

Another person was served a penne with a frugal juice of bolognese sauce that basically covered the pasta and Greek salad at the Stamford Hotel in Adelaide.

Other non-fun foods included miniatures with sweet potatoes and onions, and the guest said that was the best part of the awesome meal.

There was also a vegetable version that had roasted guts instead of chicken and two rolls of rice paper with chicken.

However, it can seem misleading because they said the food was not tasty at all.

One person was served a bag, sausage, pub, mushrooms and one poached egg at the Royal Park in Darling Harbor, although it appears to have been for breakfast rather than lunch.

Meanwhile, another received a Thailand green curry with salmon, peas, caramel and zucchini at Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Central Park.

‘Christmas Eve … come on,’ they said of the hard, proud crash on a plate.

Another person was given a vegetable green canoe in an unknown location.

Finally, a guest was presented with a Vietnamese duck noodle salad with hinger ginger dressing served in a standard takeaway dish.

Yummy rubber bands for Xmas lunch. This one looks good but fails on many fronts. Nine more days and everyone’s Merry Xmas, ’they wrote.

Other non-fun foods included miniatures with sweet potatoes and onions, and the guest said that this was easily the best part of the awesome meal.

Those in quarantine usually receive food in a delicate package so that workers can avoid unnecessary contact through vessels and knives.

The best Christmas food came from the Marriott in Sydney Harbor, where one couple showed off their colorful three-course spread.

Both dishes came with green beans and dessert in Yorkshire while the vegetable version was filled with bell pepper and the meat version was turkey.

They were also served on what looked like a sweet potato salad and prosciutto with salad leaves, pine nuts and croutons.

The two came with a roll of bread, a cake for dessert and a glass of wine.

The night before, quarantined passengers were sharing their mobile decorations on Christmas Eve.

One woman would compose a Christmas masterpiece with her limited edition materials.

She made a large tree lined with tinsel using paper bags and some equipment found in the hotel cupboard.

‘Merry Christmas to all,’ she posted.

‘I had so much fun making this Christmas tree and it makes Christmas day feel a little more normal.

‘It’s amazing what 10 days of paper bags and an ironing board can do.’

Another guest in a mandatory quarantine used two tables stacked on top of each other to create an elegant Christmas tree.
