World Sailing Championship: Cohen and Materials in third place

The mixed team, Gil Cohen and Noam Hamri, dropped to third place overall today (Tuesday) at the end of the second day of the World Sailing Championship in the 470 model held in Wilmora, Portugal.

The duo Cohen and Hamri finished the first cruise in eighth place and then in ninth place, with 17 negative points. They are only three points away from an Italian duo that climbed to first place. Noa Lasri and Tal Sadeh are in ninth place and Saar Tamir and Nitai Hasson are in 15th place.

The women’s team that represented Israel at the Tokyo Olympics, Noya Baram and Shachar Tibi, also continues in the good competition and rose to third place overall. This is after they finished the day’s cruises in 3rd and 7th places and have 20 negative points.

The men’s team, Maor Abu and Yoav Rose, remained in eighth place overall (finishing the cruises in 7th and 9th places), as they are 9 points away from a Portuguese duo struggling with them for the lone ticket left to share to Europe in this Olympics competition.

At the same time, the European RSX windsurfing championship opened today at the same venue, where only one cruise was held, due to a moderate wind, and several cruises that started and did not end due to a sub-wind, where Yoav Cohen finished third, Tom Reuveni 15, Ofek Elimelech 17, Yoav Omar 25 and Shahar Zubari only 36.

European runner-up Katie Spichkov, who knows the place well, did not start the competition well and is ranked 14th.
