Winter Safari: A celebration of animals and green nature

The special tour we will go on today (Sunday) is a special tour that is all about nature and animals – the safari in winter. The tour is done in the open and impressive African savannah of the safari in Ramat Gan. This is about a thousand dunams in the heart of an urban area that includes hundreds of wildlife, most of which are in serious danger of extinction.

At 09:00 we will go on a tour and accompany the morning feeding of the wildlife in Savannah. We will meet up close especially the hippos, rhinos, the huge herd of zebras, the canoes, the water cubes, the gnu, the pelicans and more.

During breakfast, spread over a particularly long dining table, we heard fascinating stories about everything that happens behind the scenes: about the special herd of rhinos and four of them who managed to fly to Switzerland even before we knew what isolation, closure and corona are, about the little Thomson armies getting special conditions, A return to the nature of rams and flamingos and pelicans.

During the safari, winter begins to get organized long before storms are expected, because you have to deal mainly with the extreme cold that prevails at night, even when the temperature in the morning is relatively high. Already in the fall, the quotas were renewed and a number of new sheds were built to allow hundreds of animals to hide from the rain and also to keep warm.

In the afternoon, the caregivers line the sheds in the open with large amounts of hay, so that all the herds of animals that are there can be crowded and eat in a protected area, but also warm up with each other with the help of the hay, which is twice as much as usual.

Due to a few rainy days we have already experienced, we enjoyed the fullness of the lake in Savannah, which is all bustling with life. It is a huge lake that in large parts reaches a depth of two meters, so a considerable amount of rainwater is required to fill it.

During the winter, place in the open field twice the amount of food mixture that the animals eat, since there are a lot of guest animals. The birds that live on safari are joined by quite a few migratory birds that pass here, some of them even prefer to spend the whole winter with us.

These days are without a doubt the most magical days on a safari. The area is covered with a huge green plume, which unfortunately visitors to the place will not be able to experience this year for themselves, without this broadcast and others of its kind.

The safari is a destination for meeting people with wildlife in an experiential and educational way. In the past year, the safari has been closed to visitors too many days in the past year, but through live photography, the safari manages to fulfill its purpose in a slightly different way.
