Willian describes Arsenal’s struggle after crossing London from Chelsea

The experienced Brazilian international was considered a perfect fit for the Gunners, but has far short of expectations so far.

Willian admits he is “a long way off” from his efforts at Arsenal, with the Brazilian continuing to put his struggle for form in 2020-21 down to a change of heart, despite only passing from London. Chelsea.

The winger was thought to be very vulnerable to the Gunners last summer when he completed a turnaround from Premier League rivals.

Willian had spent seven years at Stamford Bridge, making 339 appearances and collecting two top titles in English.

That approach was expected to be put to good use at the Emirates Stadium, with Mikel Arteta looking to mix youth and experience in north London.

But Willian has failed to find a spark in the current campaign, with the 32-year-old surrendering as much as he promises to get better.

It has been told for Arsenal matchday official program: “Well, changing a club is not easy at all, especially after being somewhere for so long.

“I was at Chelsea for seven years before I came to Arsenal and then you have a new club, new people, a new philosophy.

“Things are different so I’m still changing but I feel great, I’ve learned a lot – a new football philosophy.

“Everyone is great here. I know I can improve a lot, and of course my performance on the pitch can be much better. ”

Willian started positively enough for the Gunners, with two fans registered on the opening weekend against Fulham, but he has recovered since then.

He said: “The first game was good for me, against Fulham, I felt I had a good performance and I gave two assists. And then, I don’t know.

“I always try my best, sometimes things don’t go the way you want. You have to say it’s part of football and part of life.

“Sometimes you have good times, other times you have bad times, you have to learn from that.

“And right now, I know I’m far from being at my best, but I want to work hard and change this.”

While Willian has been thatching, Arteta has held on and made 18 appearances across all competitions.

That religious presentation was welcomed, with Willian saying from his manager: “Of course we talk about a lot of things together, and I know I support it.

“That’s good for me, and to have the support of the club, so I can always work hard, do my best in training to try and develop myself. This is the only way to get back to good shows. ”

Arsenal, held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace in their latest tour, will be back in action on Monday when they host Newcastle.
