Why Google wants “rebates” from the App Store on behalf of iPhone users

The Google tech giant is demanding a refund from Apple App Store on behalf of iPhone and iPad users. The case is about Google One’s custodians who bought the plan from January 8 to October 20 this year.
Google claims to have mistakenly uploaded photos and video to a shared storage quota over Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos. “These uploads should not be counted against your storage quota,” he explains. There is a bug in the Google Images a storage system may have led to erroneous counting of videos and photos towards the user’s storage quota.
The company says it is sending emails to a ‘limited number of people’ who have been affected by the problem and who may need help. While Google seeks refunds from the App Store on behalf of those users, it does not affect the status of Google One plan subscribers and does not require any action from them.
“This will not affect your Google One membership status. No action required, but you can change or cancel your subscription if you do not need additional storage. You can log in to your account to view your modified quota usage. The photos and uploads of video will be stored in the uploaded quality, but will not count towards your storage quota, ”read the email sent by Google in.
Android users were not affected by the issue. Only those devices that run on iOS, Apple iPhones and iPads, impact. Google says it has fixed the problem and the storage counted in Photos and other first-party apps now shows the correct storage consumed.
