The world awaits the tenter hook for March 7: the day when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have an interesting interview with celebrity talk show guest (and close friend Meghan) Oprah Winfrey on the air. Until recently the interview was only broadcast on the U.S. CBS network, but now, a bidding war is going on to show the interview this side of the lunch.

according to The Times, Harry and Meghan ‘s interview will be broadcast here on March 8, the day after his release in the US. ITV is thought to be the main front, with the BBC not considering how it plays the Queen’s Commonwealth message instead. The couple is likely to have a say in who is allowed to broadcast the interview.

The 90-minute interview was recorded at their home in Montecito last week between the couple’s second pregnancy announcement and the last visit from the Royal Family.

The most famous royal bombshell interviews

According to Meghan’s close friend, television guest Gayle King, ‘there is nothing without boundaries’ in the unrestricted interview, which is compared to the one brought by Diana, Princess of Wales to Panorama in 1995.

It is reported that he begins with Meghan on her own talking about her marriage and motherhood, as well as life as a royal, before Harry joins her to discuss why they left the Royal Family and life in the US as well as plans for the future.

The couple have only done very few television interviews before. The first was the announcement of their engagement in 2017, which saw them talking about roast chicken, and was the last time they spoke to Tom Bradby at ITV while on a tour around South Africa. It was then that Meghan famously revealed that no one had asked her if she was okay, and that Harry had spoken to grow up in addition to his older brother Prince William.

When the interview was announced last week, Buckingham Palace released a statement saying that although they were not aware of the interview beforehand, there was no need for them to be.
