WhatsApp working on a new ‘badge bad’ for group chairs

WhatsApp is working on a new feature for group chairs. The latest version of its beta app on Android comes with a “reference badge” that appears in group conversations.

This feature is available in WhatsApp for Android 2.21.3.13 beta update but is not yet visible to users, WABetaInfo reported. WhatsApp is currently working on this feature which is expected to be released in a future message. WABetaInfo defines this feature as “when a group is referenced, a new badge is added to the group cell. ”

WhatsApp already notifies users when they are tagged in group chairs so this could be an extension of the feature. There is no word on when WhatsApp will introduce this feature in the stable version.

The report also mentions the release of a new sticker pack on WhatsApp. It’s called “Taters n Tots”, and the sticker pack is currently available on the app. Interested users can tap on the sticker icon in any conversation, and select the ‘+’ icon to download the new sticker folder. It will first appear in the list of sticker folder.

WhatsApp is also working on a sticker shortcut for its keyboard. The shortcut will show a new sticker in the chat bar, and WhatsApp will show any relevant stickers for emojis or words typed in the chat bar. This feature is also currently being developed in WhatsApp beta app for Android.
