New actress Richa Chadha’s film Madam Prime Minister has become controversial even before its release. The first poster of the film, which has now been withdrawn, was accused of stereotyping the Dalit community – the word “untouchable” was used on the poster which showed Richa’s character keep broom. The 34-year-old actress has also received threats of violence over the controversial poster – it takes more than threats to slow Richa Chadha, however. In a tweet shared with a snapshot of a news report on a politician threatening to cut off the actress’ tongue, Richa wrote: “Hum nahi darte.“Read Richa ‘s tweet here.

Meanwhile, actress Swara Bhasker expanded support for Richa Chadha on Twitter and wrote: “This is utterly disgraceful and unmistakably condemned. You can have ideological issues and problems with film but this is criminal harassment and incites violence.A Ambedkarites, Dalit Women and just greedy people – stand up and call this out! “She added the hashtag #NotOk” to her tweet Read Swara’s tweet here.

The first poster of Madam Prime Ministerwas officially withdrawn after causing furring. Richa Chadha later said on Instagram that the poster had been “rightly” criticized and that it was a “sad and completely unexpected overview. “Read her post here:

The trailer of Madam Prime Minister, which deals with caste and sex, was released earlier this month and features the story of a young woman from a city who rose to power into the world of politics with challenging patronage and casteism.
