
Western Digital 4TB External SSD Drive Line (WD Source)
Western Digital, the storage solutions maker, has announced an upgrade to the company’s external SSD drives, adding a 4TB version to four of its SanDisk, WD and WD_BLACK drive series designed to address the growing need for high-volume users For content creators, amateurs, professionals and gamers.
Although these are not brand new external SSDs, the company has upgraded the internal SSM NVMe drive to a new 4TB version that allows double storage space compared to existing models today, which were available in volumes of only up to 2TB. Whether it’s large content creator media files, gamers ’games, or high-volume files for regular users, there is a need for the extra volume that the current version refresh brings with it to the company’s external SSD drive series.

The four series of external digital SSD drives that will come in a 4TB version include the following models:
- SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD – Sandisk’s external extreme drive also reviewed on the site, which comes with IP55 standard water and dust resistance and fall resistance from a height of 2 meters and offers data transfer speeds of up to 2000MB / s with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 × 2 connection.
- SansDisk Extreme Portable SSD – External waterproof and dustproof SSD drive in IP55 standard and includes fall resistance from a height of 2 meters, offering reading speeds of up to 1050MB / s and writing of up to 1000MB / s with a USB connection 3.2 Gen 2.
- WD_BLACK P50 Game Drive SSD – Western Digital’s dedicated external digital SSD drive for gamers from the WD_BLACK series reviewed on the site, which offers computer players and consoles an extremely fast external storage solution with data transfer speeds of up to 2000MB / s with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 × 2 connection.
- My Passport SSD – The external SSD drive from the WD home series is made of metal and is available in gray, blue, red and gold. It offers write speeds of up to 1000MB / s and readings of up to 1050MB / s via the USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection, with fall resistance from a height of about 2 meters.
