US President-elect Joe Biden has announced: US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, one of the key players in the 2015 negotiations under the powers’ agreement with Iran, the Reuters news agency reported.

As is well known, in Jerusalem there is a fear that Biden will return to the agreement, from which the United States emerged during the administration of President Doland Trump, who in this step returned the sanctions on the Iranians. This move was backed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
As reported in “Israel Today” last weekend, a source close to Biden’s transition team made it clear that before formulating the strategy with Tehran, the president-elect will hold consultations with Israel.

Reuters also reported that Biden had also appointed Victoria Noland, a former NATO ambassador and Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, to the post of secretary of state for political affairs. In 1996, she served as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Secretary of State.

Reuters also reported that on Tuesday the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a hearing to approve the appointment of Anthony Blinkan, Biden’s candidate for the post of secretary of state.
This report joins last week’s announcement of the appointment of William Burns as head of the Central Intelligence Agency, CIA. He is also one of the architects of the nuclear agreement with Iran, and has had ties with Iranian officials since 2008.
