‘Welcome to the club, America’: Priyanka Chopra’s response to Kamala Harris wins online praise

Priyanka Chopra’s response to late-night comedian and host Stephen Colbert on Kamala Harris becoming the first female Vice President in the United States has earned a reputation online.

Chopra, who appeared on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ for her film The White Tiger, was promoted in a candid conversation with the guest where the two discussed many topics including politics and that’s when Colbert asked the actor how she felt when Harris became the first woman, the first South Asian, the first Black vice president.

“As a South Asian woman, what did it mean to you, to see the new vice-president as the first woman, the first South Asian, the first vice-president African America? Colbert asked in the video interview.

Copra replied, “A couple of things… it was an emotional time for many of my friends and family but coming from a country like India that has seen a number of women in power, whether it be President, Prime Minister… You know, welcome to the club, America. That’s what I say. High time, I hope this is not the first. ”

“I hope there are many, many because this is how governance should be. Leadership looks amazing, especially when it’s diverse and because of what the world looks like, ”she said.
