The most “Israeli” team in Central America, Suriname, continues to do well in the World Cup qualifiers and this morning (Sunday) they defeated Aruba 0: 6, in a game in which Nigel Hasselbaink from Bnei Sakhnin starred with a hat-trick, and was chosen as the outstanding player.

Hasselbaink, who played 80 minutes, opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and also scored the third and fourth goal for his team (38, 55). Alongside the Sakhnin striker, two other representatives from the Premier League also played – Charon Sheri from Maccabi Haifa who completed 90 minutes, and Glaofilo Hasselbaink from Betar Jerusalem who opened and was replaced in the half.

The Sakhnin striker has become the second in the history of the small team to score a hat-trick in the World Cup qualifiers, and the second since Marlon Pelter, who did so in 2004 against the same chimney. The most famous striker in the family, Uncle Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, has never managed to score more than one goal in the national uniform, although of course it cannot be ignored that he played for the Dutch national team.

It was the second straight win for Suriname after the 0-3 draw against the Cayman Islands, and it ended its games at the current break. In Sakhnin, of course, one can mainly hope that Hasselbaink will bring the same ability in front of goal for the underground battles in the Premier League.
