While Manchester City took another step towards the English Championship and Atletico Madrid continued their journey towards the coveted title in Spain, a rematch was also held tonight (Wednesday) in France. There, Marseille broke a seven-game unbeaten streak with a 2-3 draw at Nice in the Riviera derby, in what was a rematch from the 11th round.

Marseille, whose last league victory was achieved on January 6 (1: 3 over Montpellier), opened with a storm and took the lead in the 14th minute from a goal by stopper Albero Gonzalez. The result was doubled even before the break, when in the 42nd minute the Tunisian fencer Sawi scored his first goal in the Marseille uniform.

Nice made comeback votes with the opening of the second half thanks to a goal by Amin Guiri in the 47th minute, but just six minutes later Hawi completed a double and reassured the hosts. Another shrinking goal from Malik Salouki in the 87th minute was already too little and too late for the modest Nice, who remained in 14th place in the table.

Marseille qualified thanks to the victory for sixth place in the table and is only a point away from fifth place. She has less play relative to the top four in the table, but it looks like she will already have a hard time grabbing one of those places, as the gap from fourth-placed Monaco currently stands at 12 points.
