Watch: 6 points for Danny Abdia, Washington defeated Phoenix

Beginning of an article

Washington in crisis? Not this time. Danny Abdia and his team hosted the powerful Phoenix tonight (Monday through Tuesday), dismantled it 107: 128 and halted the losing streak. Abdia failed to recover the tremendous ability from the previous game against Miami, but recorded a solid game with 6 points (3 of 6 from the field), 5 rebounds, assists and two turnovers in 20 minutes.

Already in the opening you could see the change in Washington’s game, and it came in the defensive part. Abdia and his teammates came up with a refreshing intensity and stopped Phoenix (which held the second-best balance in the NBA) by just 15 points in the first quarter. In the absence of the injured Russell Westbrook, Bradley Bill provided a perfect first quarter with 13 points and 5 assists and the Wizards’ lead was 15:29 after 12 minutes.

In the second quarter, the Israeli rookie added two points in a post against Devin Booker, but the story of the quarter was Davis Bartens, who again looks like the “Latvian laser” as they like to call him. Within 4 minutes Bartans sniped 5 threes at 100% and the team from the capital began its escape. After already leading by 32 points, the scoreboard showed 42:68 to Washington at the half – its biggest difference at the break since 2017.

In the second half Washington did not allow Phoenix to get back to business, despite a great day by Devin Booker (33 points), and finally achieved its third win of the season and first in the Capital One Arena, which raised it to a 8-3 balance. In the third quarter, by the way, Abdia added two very uncharacteristic baskets – the first in All-Hop he got from Bradley Bill (helped by a bit of luck) and the second from half distance against Diandra Eyton. In the final quarter, which was only for the record, Scott Brooks decided not to give minutes to the Israeli, even though he shared his star Bill.

Bill flirted with a triple-double (34 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists), Bartens sniped 18 and Raul Net was as effective as usual with 16 points. Robin Lopez took the place of Thomas Bryant who finished the season, recording a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. For the losers, who scored 14.8% from outside the arc (4 of 27) and went down to a 7: 4 balance, Chris Paul added 14 points and 11 assists. Wednesday-Thursday: Washington will host Utah.
