Warriors ‘Wiseman, T-Wolves’ Edwards gets 25 each

After a terrific scramble from Anthony Edwards at the end of his first matchup with James Wiseman, the pair of 2020 mainstays put on a treat in the second round of a two-game series between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Helping push Golden State to a 123-11 victory over Minnesota at the Chase Center, Wiseman posted a new top 25 points on a 9-of-14 shooting. The Memphis result put six rebounds and two blocks off the bench in 24 minutes for the Warriors.

Wiseman added his rookie sight reel with an engaging series in the third quarter. At the head of the floor defense, the rookie giant defended the edge with a wild block on a driver from Jake Layman of Minnesota. Wiseman then ran the floor, leading to a one-handed slam in the row.

Along with his high-flying shoot, Wiseman showed off his long-range shooting. The 19-year-old would drill three times on three attempts from outside the arc. Before his three of 3 points came, Wiseman’s last jersey came from a depth on Jan. 8 against the Los Angeles Clippers. Wiseman’s shooting performance against Minnesota was the first time he has scored more than one 3-pointer since Christmas day against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Edwards matched Wiseman’s effort, scoring 25 points on a 9-of-19 shot from the field by five points-3. The 2020 No. 1 election totaled four boards, three assists and a pair of rebounds.

The last two games could be a preview of what’s to come between the pair of main versions. When Wiseman and Edwards work against each other on the hard woods, it should be something to keep an eye on.
