The youth academy is in the midst of a third closure that halted the department’s activities on the lawn. Outside the field, the analyst department of the youth academy continues to operate fully with the players and team members. We spoke with the director of the department, Dor Roi Hassid, who shared with us about the department and how it operates these days.

The director of the analysts department of the youth academy, Dor Roi Hassid, arrived at the club on October 17 after two and a half years of football analysis at Redwood. He later worked as a scout for a team from one of the major leagues in Europe while continuing to work for Maccabi. Dor started his job as an analyst for the youth group B at the time under the guidance of Raymond Anwald, after this season he advanced to the position of analyst for the youth team when he has been managing the department for the past two years. The analyst department of the Youth Academy consists of five analysts. Four of them are in charge of the youth and boys group and another analyst is in charge of the northern branch of the academy.

In our conversation with Dor, he told us about the nature of the analyst’s role in the academy: ‘The analyst’s role is to photograph and analyze team games and help coaches implement the club’s philosophy in the team through group video meetings and face-to-face meetings with players. In addition, the analyst photographs and edits the team’s training so that the players can see themselves practicing, playing and receiving emphasis on improving and maintaining their game throughout the week leading up to the game. I personally always think of the analyst as another assistant coach and we always try to help in consultations regarding tactical and mental preparation for games. In addition, in the youth team we try to prepare for the opposing team and analyze it tactically to prepare the players for the senior level. “

He then shared how the department is doing these days in light of the third closure and the distant connection with the players and team members: On their technique also at home during quarantine. In addition, we do tactical meetings in Zoom according to squads of defense, link and attack on their games from the beginning of the year and add once a week a teen zoom meeting of one of the analysts on a topic of his choice. “

‘The aim is to contribute to the players and keep them sharp at the same level of understanding of the game and technical and tactical ability. The important thing is that our players will be able to take as much as possible from this period and stay positive because every year in the age of children and youth is a critical year for their development as players and I hope we manage to maintain a good training routine off the field.
