Roman Zulu (32) will serve as the permanent coach of Hapoel Afula’s senior team. The coach signed a contract until the end of the team’s next season from the National Senior League, after returning to the club last summer as the youth team coach, after a period serving as the professional manager in MS Kfar Kama’s youth department and as the senior team coach – which led to promotion to the Second Division. Roman Zulu was promoted to coach the youth team at the end of their career in the senior team of coach Shlomi Dora and his assistant Lior Cohen. Zulu led the senior team to a balance of four wins and three losses in 7 games, which helped it rise above the red line and is currently ranked 13th in the National League. Along with Roman Zulu on the senior team, the fitness coach – Niv Lachman, the goalkeeping coach – Tzachi Shmueli.

For now, Roman Zulu is simultaneously coaching the youth team, until a replacement is found for him. The management of the youth department is considering a number of candidates for the position, while it is not impossible that Avinoam Kochavi will be promoted from youth group A to the youth team – which returned to activity last Saturday, after about two weeks in isolation, due to his diagnosis The team met Hapoel Acre twice in three days for a league game and a cup game – both games ended in a 1: 3 victory for Acre, which on Saturday won the league game at home and yesterday won Hapoel Afula.

The senior team manager, Ami Asaig, who served as director of the youth department until last summer, said in response to Roman Zulu’s appointment: “The appointment of Roman for a year and a half was requested and not necessarily because of the results. “As one who has run the youth department for many years, there is no greater pride for us than to see the local lead the adult group. We believe Roman is the right man for us.”

Roman Zulu responded to his appointment: “I thank the team management for trusting me. As someone who grew up in the club’s youth department and as a city resident it’s an exciting day for me. No one wants to be more successful than me and I’m sure together with the great team and players. .
