The Manchester Thunder announced the cancellation of their player on Saturday
The Manchester Thunder have suspended a member of their squad due to a breach of coronavirus restrictions.
Vitality Netball Superleague, who won the title in 2019, made the announcement about the behavior of one of their players, in a statement Saturday. They did not name the individual.
“We are extremely disappointed with the player who broke the law to attend a New Year’s party,” said Debbie Hallas, managing director of Manchester Thunder.
“It’s a breach of trust for everyone involved with Thunder; for the other players who make great sacrifices to be able to train in safe ways with COVID as elite athletes.
“Also, for our fans who are making great sacrifices to try to reduce the spread and keep people saved, and for members of our Thunder family who have been on the front line of the NHS in the disease spread this, of which we are so proud.
“Despite constant memories of their responsibilities as individuals, networks and role models for girls, the player decided that a good deal of time would be more important to them.
“They should set an example. They have completely failed to do that, and this is not acceptable.”
