Violence in Arab society: Netanyahu and Ohana in a special statement

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu And the Minister of Homeland Security Amir Ohana A press conference was held tonight (Wednesday) during their visit to the national headquarters of the Israel Police in Jerusalem, in which they announced a special plan they had formulated, which they said would “bring about a real revolution in Arab society” and in favor of Resolution 922 to invest NIS 15 billion. Retired Chief of Staff Aaron Franco, who previously served as commander of the Jerusalem district, spoke out against the Arabs after the 2009 Temple Mount riots and claimed that they were forced to do good: “We allowed Ramadan prayers, and they riot on Tishrei.”

“Whoever will include for me this tremendous effort as a projector is retired Aaron Franco. He has very professional experience, he has excellent relations with leaders in the Arab localities. Aaron will perfect the government’s efforts in various areas and ensure maximum coordination between them, not only personal security but everything. “Which leads to the fact that it includes everything – education, welfare, economy and employment,” Netanyahu said in his opening remarks.

According to Netanyahu, a special ministerial committee will be set up for the Arab company he will head and it will convene regularly to monitor the implementation of two plans – short-term and long-term. “The immediate plan includes collecting weapons from Arab localities, investing NIS 100 million in building police and fire stations in addition to the nine we set up, establishing welfare institutions, establishing a team led by the National Security Council to prevent weapons leakage, implementing a domestic violence prevention program in the Arab sector.

At the end of his speech, he addressed the government and stressed: “Expect that we can pass it in the government and get started immediately. I am personally committed to carrying out this huge task, a task that will change the lives of Arab Israeli citizens. It will give great hope for the future.”

Ohana, who came after him, said that “the time is an emergency but it also carries hope and great opportunity. Arab society groans under the burden of crime and violence, a criminal minority and a criminal close to it makes its life bitter and robs the future of its youth. We have come to say so far.”

He added: “We need the Arab public by our side in this war. The majority of the Arab public is law-abiding, but a small minority of them are responsible for 93% of the shootings, 64% of the murders, 56% of the weapons offenses, or in other words – about 60 “% Of the crime in Israel and the victims of crime are, of course, Israeli citizens, Jews and Arabs alike.”

In response to these remarks, the chairman of the joint list, MK Ayman Odeh, responded: “We need a well-budgeted plan that uproots the problem of criminal organizations. The plan presented by Netanyahu tonight is nothing more than an election exercise on the backs of Arab murdered people. We have a plaster that says “Mahal”.

“A serious plan must first drain the sources of funding for organized crime, close the gray market and put an end to the phenomenon of protection. We must stop the drift of illegal weapons from the military to Arab citizens and confiscate the hundreds of thousands of weapons that destroy our lives.” Against criminals and the rehabilitation of prisoners, “Odeh continued.

As you may recall, this is not Netanyahu’s first statement regarding the state of crime and violence in Arab society. Last week, the Prime Minister met with the heads of Arab authorities following a discussion of a proposal on the eradication of violence in Arab society. The proposal proposes a significant budget increase for the issue, which will be transferred to the Ministry of Homeland Security. The same proposal is to come later for government approval.

In response to these remarks, MK Nitzan Horowitz said: “Prime Minister Netanyahu is once again grossly trampling on the law and holding a press conference as part of his campaign at the national police headquarters. “Beyond the irony that Netanyahu attacked the police at every opportunity and humiliated them, Jose Batzula Korta in order to gain legitimacy for a plan to eradicate crime in the Arab sector that will never be carried out, is something that is forbidden by a sharp and smooth law.”

“Section 2A of the Electoral Law explicitly prohibits the use of public property and public buildings for election propaganda purposes and of course Israeli police officers are also prevented from participating in such events,” the Meretz chairman added. “The media will do well to prevent the press conference. The PM will be arrested for violating the law. “During Netanyahu’s tenure as prime minister, the violence in Arab society has doubled and even more.”
