A million-dollar fan star ran across Manly’s Corso the night before what he claims was a bathroom abuse that caused his fourth hamstring injury in two years.

Tom Trbojevic was relegated on Monday for the first three rounds of the NRL season, in what he describes as another bitter blow for Manly and Sea Eagles superstar.

Supporters told reporters Monday that he slipped while showering into the bathroom Sunday morning, killing his comeback after a 2020 injury.

Trbojevic and the club then had to deny that the injury happened the night before, after photos surfaced, with Trbojevic admitting he knew what he was looking like.

‘I didn’t hurt him then (Saturday night),’ Trbojevic told the Australian.

‘I was getting a few drinks and I was doing a half-word on the Corso. I know how it looks but I swear, I didn’t hurt it then. ‘

Ahead of the photos appearing at Monday’s press conference, Trbojevic told reporters he was a ‘very embarrassing’ injury.

‘I woke up yesterday morning and slipped over into the bathroom and felt like it was gone. It’s very hard to take.

The members and fans of this club have shown a lot of trust in me and I hadn’t played enough football.

‘I’m still very confident (in my future). I have trained very well and everything has gone smoothly but stuff happens sometimes. ‘

Nonetheless, Manly is another major concern with the 24-year-old admitting his retreat.

Trbojevic has spent time with hamstring experts in the past year, and this is just good news blowing his hamstring right and not the left hamstring.

The NSW State of Origin star’s left hamstring first flew in February 2019, and then again two games into his return in April.

He then missed three months when the left went for the third time in June last year, meaning he has played just 19 games in two years.

‘It’s something rattling,’ Trbojevic told reporters.

‘It’s not something you want to deal with and reflect on the history over the last two years, it doesn’t make it any easier.

‘But at least I know I’ve been here before and I know what I need to do to get it right again. I just have to go and do that.

‘Very confident (in my long-term fitness). I have trained very well and everything has gone smoothly but stuff happens sometimes. ‘

Trbojevic seems to be as important to Manly as any player to their team in the tournament.

They were close to the top four when it went down last season, but have won just three of 14 from then on to finish in the bottom four.

The sea eagles have a limited back in the situation after they let Brendan Elliot go, leaving Reuben Garrick and Morgan Harper as options.

But coach Des Hasler added that he was not worried about Trbojevic’s future or the impact it would have on Manly’s season.

‘Competitions will not be won in March,’ Hasler said.

‘It’s soft print. If you look through all the results and research, there may have been an average of two or three game soft-tissue injuries.

‘You’ll get those runs of injuries.’
