The Bulgarian team, won the second game against Austria in the qualifiers for the European Championship 2021. The Israeli team must rise tomorrow evening (19:00) against the strong Bulgarians to achieve a good result.
Bulgaria opened the game against Austria in a strong way and gained a quick advantage, but its mistakes left Austria in the game until a level 11 tie.
The second set started better for the Austrians and their advantage grew throughout, especially with a tremendous ability from Kruntler, which led them to a 20:25 victory. In the third set the Bulgarian Sokolov woke up with a number of spectacular points but the Austrians kept themselves in the game. But Bulgaria’s excellent finish in the campaign brought victory for them – 19:25.
Austria started the fourth campaign well and it managed to be close to Bulgaria throughout the campaign. But the Bulgarians knew how to push forward with the help of excellent opening balls from Alex Grozdanov, who excelled in the campaign to open a small gap that was enough for them to win 22:25.
Tomorrow, as mentioned, the Israeli team will play for its second game in the championship after a disappointing loss on the first night yesterday against Austria. Coach Noam Katz knows that the team players must rise above and reach better coordination in the team. Tamir Hershko’s excellent ability from the game against Austria will not be enough against the Bulgarians and all the players of the team must give the game of their lives to at least win a point at home (a point awarded for a 2: 3 loss in systems).
