Vicarious Visions merged with Blizzard

Activision Blizzard has moved its Vicarious Visions studio from Activision ‘s side of the business to Blizzard’ s side.

The publisher announced today GamesIndustry.biz that’s effective today, it links Vicarious Visions to Blizzard Entertainment.

Going forward, Blizzard’s Vicarious Visions team of around 200 people will be “fully committed to Blizzard’s games and campaigns,” which means that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 studio will not creating games as the main developer.

“After collaborating with Vicarious Visions for some time and developing a good relationship, Blizzard realized there was an opportunity. [Vicarious Visions] to provide long-term support, “a representative explained to us. They declined to specify what the team has been working with Blizzard for, or for how long.

As part of the move, Vicarious Visions studio head Jen Oneal has been promoted to executive vice president of Blizzard, where she will join the company’s leadership team and report directly to Blizzard president, J. Allen Brack.

Simon Ebejer replaces Oneal in the role of studio head of Vicarious Visions, a former chief operating officer for the studio.

Vicarious Visions was acquired by Activision in 2005 and has worked on many of the publisher’s biggest franchises over the years, including Hero Guitar, Spider-Man, Tony Hawk, Crash Bandicoot, Destiny, Skylanders , and Call of Duty.

The studio will stay in Albany, New York.
