In an interview with Corona Struggle Professor Prof. Nachman Ash on Effie Trigger’s program in Glatz, he said that due to the increase in morbidity, the possibility of recommending a general closure was being considered: “A decision must be made now. Tightened restraint will take about five weeks “Three weeks in the current state of illness.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health yesterday instructed Magen David Adom to refer patients from hospitals in Jerusalem to hospitals Assaf Harofeh, Ichilov and Sheba Tel Hashomer in the center, due to congestion in the corona wards of hospitals in the capital.
The Biological Institute in Ness Ziona announced yesterday that it has successfully completed the first phase of the clinical trials of the vaccine that the institute’s scientists are developing against the corona, and beyond the second phase of the trial – which will include hundreds of experimenters from around the country. The third and critical phase is expected to take place on about 30,000 testers, and is the one that will ultimately determine the effectiveness of the vaccine.

However, the fact that Israel has already begun its own vaccination campaign may pose difficulties for further trials in Israel. According to experts in the field, the more the population of Israel is vaccinated, the more difficult it will be to reach the level of exposure to the virus required to test the effectiveness of the Israeli vaccine. In such a situation, a significantly larger number of experimenters will be needed and a longer period of examination, while at the same time citizens’ willingness to volunteer to participate in the vaccine trial is likely to decrease, as there are already other proven vaccines on the market.

“In this situation, it seems that they will not be able to do the experiment in phase three in Israel,” Prof. Amos Pent, a virologist in the Hebrew University’s Faculty of Medicine and a member of the Biological Institute’s accompanying development committee, told Israel Today. “It will have to be done in another country where the morbidity is still widespread, in places like Africa or India for example.”
