Vantage launches Contact Pilot Tracking at Oxford Advanced Care

Vantage real-time location technology helps keep Oxford residents and staff safe.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, January 11, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Today, Vantage, a Vancouver-based innovator in real-time tracking systems (RTLS) and communications tracking solutions, announces its production pilot at The Oxford Senior Care, its main private care home located in Abbotsford, BC.

Oxford is owned and operated by the Care Group, providers of high-quality long-term care, supported living, and independent living services throughout BC. In their ongoing mission to deliver people-centered care and best practices, especially in times of pandemic, the Care Group has turned to technology to strengthen its infection prevention and control measures.

“Keeping our residents and staff safe has always been a priority for us. We have revised protocols and procedures to do so during the pandemic. We have learned that PPE and safety protocols are only part of the solution in controlling the spread of the virus. That is why we have decided to accelerate Vantage technology, using their automated communication and health screening solutions, ”said Gavin McIntosh, Care Group VP Jobs and Finance VP.

Mackintosh continued, “The moment we know of a reported case, we can find out where that person traveled in our building, and who they were contacting. We can now prioritize testing and immediately identify those who need to separate. ” Vantage does this through the stylish attire that Oxford residents and team members can wear while at home and associate them with a unique identifier. Small readers are placed throughout the building looking for the wearables and know where they have been, if they have been in the same place as other wearables, and for how long. If an infection is reported, administrators can use Vantage real-time scheduling to track the identified person in accordance with privacy rules.

The detection of Vantage communications adds another layer of protection to help reduce the spread of COVID in long-term care, “The Vantage wearable RFID allows us to monitor the movement of staff, residents and equipment through the Oxford . This information is especially useful in the event of a revolution as it provides an insight into who may be exposed to viruses or bacteria and for how long. This should enhance our ability to manage risk and risk from revolution, ”said Dr Adriaan Windt, Medical Director, Oxford Senior Care.

This is the second contact detection pilot for Vantage, the first of which was launched in November at Harbor House, a highly supported residential facility in Long Island, NY. With Oxford, Vantage is pleased that its RTLS technology, originally designed for water parks, can be used to help keep Canada’s elderly population safe. “The beauty of technology is that it can be easily replicated for other uses,” said Philip Edgell, President of Vantage. “When the pandemic began, we looked at how our technology could help. It turns out our understanding of a water park that visitor behavior can also be used to contact visitors, staff and residents in facilities such as old homes and offices. We are delighted to be working with the Care Group to help keep residents and staff safe, ”he concluded.
