The Florida Department of Health in Orange County began vaccinations for pre-registered EMTs and paramedics at 7 a.m. Saturday morning at the Orange County Convention Center.

County leaders say this is a key turning point for the county’s diffuse response.

After months of working on the front lines of the pandemic, Orange County firefighter Juan Torres is now in front of the line to receive the first dose of the Moderna vaccine.

“After so long running so many patients, at this stage I had no worries. I’m making it bigger for my family, ”he said.

Waiting months are over in a matter of seconds.

“This is a positive step,” Kent Donahue told the Florida Department of Health.

The first 200 Orange County EMTs and paramedics received the first dose of the vaccine on Saturday and the vaccines will continue throughout the week as part of the county ‘s first 16,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine this week.

Teams work through New Year’s Eve and Day to distribute the vaccines.

More vaccine vessels are expected in the coming weeks so that more residents are at risk.

“The pandemic is a major turning point. We are excited, as I said before, now we are going to attack and fight this virus, ”said Donahue.

Vaccine circulation provides peace of mind for those who have been directly fighting coronavirus.

“I have been running COVID patients for the past nine months, ten months, and I have a family visiting, especially my parents are ill. The least I can do is protect them, ”Torres explained.

Leaders with the Florida Department of Health in Orange County say they plan to explain more details about Orange County’s vaccine circulation plans on Monday.
