The New York Red Bulls are expected to approve a loan move for U.S. captain Aaron Long due to Major League Soccer’s ongoing ban.
The center-back, who has won 18 captains for his country, has been the subject of at least one approach from a Championship club.
The short-term contract is attractive with no loan fee, with clubs just wanting to pay his salary. Option to purchase can also be included.
The command is similar to the one agreed by Swansea for Long and Seattle Sounders international team-mate forward Jordan Morris.
The MLS season has been postponed to April at the earliest due to a coronary virus outbreak, meaning players are looking for game time elsewhere.
West Ham attempted to sign Long on loan in January 2020 but the approach was rejected by the New York Red Bulls.
