ATLANTA, March 04, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – UPS (NYSE: UPS), The UPS Foundation and UPS Healthcare are moving quickly to support a balanced delivery program and a stable global supply chain of COVID-19 vaccines. UPS, in collaboration with COVAX, Gavi, the vaccine alliance and CARE will help deliver 20 million doses to countries that have not had enough access to vaccines, including priority groups such as health care workers.

The latest global vaccine dose is around six million doses a day. Building partnerships
Global success depends on bringing together and mobilizing the right partnerships. Helping to establish and fuel these efforts, UPS Healthcare and The UPS Foundation will:
- Provide transportation solutions that impact UPS cold chain technology
- Provide ultra-low temperature freezer offerings necessary to maintain vaccine operating capacity at the right temperature in different environments
- Engage UPS loan executives to provide logistics and coordination expertise with vaccine manufacturers and NGO partners to manage and streamline delivery
This initial level of support from The UPS Foundation is over $ 3 million in grants to our global partners. This capacity building effort made up of a $ 2 million donation is directed to Gavi who matches the donation to bring it to $ 4 million. With the investment of $ 1 million of non-generic support, the UPS Foundation provides transportation, provides cold chain capability in the form of freezers and lends technical expertise to partners in need.
This broad level of support amounts to more than $ 5 million in support of fair vaccine distribution and health systems strengthening efforts across Gavi-backed countries.
