“Unstoppable”: George wants to attack the MVP

About two weeks ago Paul George said he returned this summer to work with his personal trainer who led him to the peak season of his career, 2018/19, in which he finished third in the MVP race. “I’m goal-oriented,” he said George. “I have motivation, in every workout I listen to Kobe Bryant’s motivational speeches. I’m healthy and I’m ready to do it this season.” Tonight (Tuesday through Wednesday), in a win over the Lakers, the Clippers star certainly looked ready.

George, who managed to both propose marriage and sign a huge contract worth $ 226 million this summer, looked simply wonderful in his first game of the season. PG finished with 33 points on 72% from the field and 62.5% from three, while in the second half alone he sniped 26 on 83%. To those numbers he added six rebounds making him the Clippers’ first player since Chris Paul in 2014 to score 30+ points, 5+ rebounds, 5+ threes and 70% from the field in the game.

“Paul was unstoppable,” complimented the team’s new coach Tyrone Lou. “Our goal is to give him the balls in places he can create. The next step in his game will be to make his teammates better in case of double help. We will give him and Kwai, but they must improve the other players as well.”

Apropos Kwai Leonard, Lou’s superstar who finished with 26 points was unmoved by the win: “We are not there yet. It is a long season and we will have to learn to maintain our advantage. We must stick to the game plan and minimize mistakes as much as possible.” Kwai and George are the third duo in the club’s history to score 25+ points each on the opening night of the season.
