Stanley, the father of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, And a former member of the European Parliament, announced today (Thursday) on a French radio program that he intends to apply for French citizenship due to his family roots. This is as stated, when in a referendum held in 2016, he voted in favor of Britain remaining in the bloc.

Johnson Sr. told the broadcaster in French: “If I understand correctly, I am French – my mother was born in France, her mother was completely French, as was her grandfather. So for me, it means returning what belongs to me, and it makes me very happy.” He added: “I will always be European, that’s for sure. British citizens cannot be told – ‘you are not European’,” said Johnson Sr., adding: “Our ties with the union are important.

As mentioned, about a week ago a trade agreement was reached for Britain’s withdrawal from the Union, but the Prime Minister mentioned: “This is not the end of Britain as a European country. In many ways, we are the essence of European civilization, and will continue to be so.” Also, tonight is expected to officially take place the disengagement from the union.
