‘UK hospitals under pressure more than ever’

ANKARA

Hospitals in the UK are under severe pressure amid a “frightening” rise in COVID-19 cases, the country’s prime minister said on Saturday, urging citizens to stay at home.

“Our hospitals are under more pressure than at any time since the outbreak began, and infection rates continue to rise at an alarming rate,” Boris Johnson said on Twitter.

“The introduction of the vaccine has given us new hope, but it is vital now that we stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives. “

A new strain of coronavirus, which accounts for up to 70% more, has introduced diseases and deaths across the UK.

The country reported the highest rates of 1,325 deaths and 68,053 new cases on Friday.

The total UK case account is now over 2.95 million, including almost 80,000 deaths.

The grim situation has forced authorities to evacuate emergency hospitals built at the outbreak of the pandemic last year, according to various media reports.
