Tyson Fury’s ongoing deal with Deontay Wilder remains a ‘problem’ but promoters are hopeful that a global title fight will no doubt be delayed.

Anthony Joshua held a meeting with Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn last week to finalize the remaining terms for fighting Fury, with the world heavyweight titles involved.

But Sky Sports understands that Wilder ‘s settlement with Fury is still in the early stages as the Americans hold on to their bid for a third WBC title title after losing a stop in February last year.

“That’s a real problem and issue for Top Rank, and Bob Arum,” said promoter Eddie Hearn Sky Sports.

“It simply came to our notice then. That is not going to be the case in this fight.

That’s a Fury problem, a Fury Team problem. We are confident that it will not affect our fight, or the news.

“I believe Deontay was Wilder, he was supposed to fight in January. Now we’re in mid-February, so how long is he going to have to wait? he’s been out of the ring for a year now, and he’s slowly imploding in every interview he gives. He should get back in the ring.

“That’s a Fury problem, a Fury Team problem. We’re confident it won’t affect our fight, or the news.

“I’ll be holding out for two weeks (until a call is made). I’ve been hard pressed to say now. People are tired of hearing it, but we’re ending on the best details of the contract and we hope to announce soon. “

UK Fury promoter Frank Warren is also hopeful Joshua’s fight will go ahead as expected.

“We don’t think it’s going to affect the fight,” Warren said Sky Sports.

The management of Wilder and Top Rank, the U.S. Fury promotion team, did not comment on the ongoing settlement.

Hearn is confident that he can agree on all terms related to Joshua, then he intends to choose the place, with Saudi Arabia, America and Singapore among the places under consideration.

“Contracts have been back and forth,” Hearn said Sky Sports last week.

“There are only details to be resolved on each end. We are in a good position.

“AJ was in the office yesterday with us. We had a good meeting to finish our side of stuff.

“We’re close to making this fight. We want to make sure the ink is dry, and then we’ll go out and finish the details of the site.

“I’m going to keep quiet right now, that may not last too long, but in the meantime work hard to end the biggest boxing fight.”
