When Kawhi Leonard unknowingly took an elbow from Serge Ibaka, he jokingly said that Serge was on the trading block. Just in case you couldn’t tell, we’re here to let you know that doesn’t happen.
Serge Ibaka does not trade with the Clippers.
When Serge Ibaka came to the LA Clippers the team had a good problem – having two starting points. No one expected Ivica Zubac to come off the bench this season, but Ibaka has done a good job in the starting lineup. There has been a report that Serge Ibaka refused to play behind Marc Gasol, which took him away from the Toronto Raptors.
Ibaka will give the Clippers a level of depth that they haven’t had in nearly a decade, piece five. There was a point during Lob City where Doc Rivers was having experience finding piece five, and he tried to find anyone who would be suitable for that position. Fans saw players like Spencer Hawes, or Byron Mullens join the team, but none of them could make much of an impact. Ibaka has already brought more to the table than they have in just 9 games.
This season, Serge Ibaka has averaged: 11.8 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.2 BPG, shot 46/35/76. The Clippers are currently 6-3 on the season, with impressive wins against the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns. They are a team that is still difficult to measure because of the difference in which they have won and lost. Nevertheless, Serge Ibaka is here to stay.
