Tunisia ward makes virus ward on fiddle

A doctor in the Tunisian town of Sfax has gone to the fiddle to try to stimulate the spirits of patients fighting the coronavirus.

The music of Dr. Mohamed Salah Siala has brought comfort and joy to the COVID-19 ward at Hedi Chaker Hospital, where patients are separated from loved ones.

Siala described loneliness as the first “enemy” of patients recovering from their illness.

One coronavirus patient, Rachid Arous, said Siala’s music helped him forget about the pain.

Others were seen laughing, clapping and picking up the first thing appreciating the shows.

But Siala’s musical passion has also been helping health workers, who have been under a lot of pressure in recent months due to an increase in virus cases in the north African country.

Tunisia has recorded more than 227,000 cases of coronavirus and more than 7,700 deaths since the outbreak began the pandemic, according to Johns Hopkins University.
